"The only permanent solution is to amend the Constitution. That solution treats everyone the same. I expect that MPs will stop playing with citizens and finally support some things that restore rights to workers."

Montenegrin President Jakov Milatović announced that on Monday he will propose a permanent solution to the non-working week, which includes a change to the Constitution.

In a statement to Radio Television of Montenegro, Milatović, speaking about the abolition of Sunday off, said that what is at stake is "a show for citizens and eye candy."

"Amendments are being proposed to the law that was declared unconstitutional a few days ago. So where is that?" Milatović said, according to the RTCG portal.

He announced that he would propose a permanent solution on Monday.

"And the only permanent solution is to amend the Constitution. That solution treats everyone the same. I expect that the MPs will stop playing with the citizens and finally support some things that restore the rights of workers," said Milatović.

Milatović is staying in Washington, where he attended the Prayer Breakfast.

"On the scene of division of spoils and armchairs"

The main messages from Milatović's meetings with officials in Washington are based on strategic partnership, dialogue and improving economic cooperation, reports the RTCG portal.

He pointed out that America is interested in China's influence and the fight against organized crime.

"I used the meeting at the State Department to ask for support in the fight against organized crime, especially considering that two people who should have ended up in prison in Montenegro have escaped. This is not good news, but what it is is that America will help when it comes to the rule of law in Montenegro," Milatović said.

Speaking about the laws he returned to parliamentary procedure, Milatović said that we have witnessed the lack of seriousness of institutions, primarily the Parliament and MPs.

"I think it is not right to vote for laws before they are read. This is, I can freely say, a collapse of the system in the Parliament, the Government, the security and judicial sectors, which is bad for citizens. I called for accountability and brought the MPs and the Government to justice, and all of this was planned on my part in order to show who in Montenegro is hindering our European path, and that is an unserious Government and an irresponsible parliamentary majority," said Milatović.

He did not want to comment on the stability of the parliamentary majority. He said that what is on the scene is the division of spoils and seats, not the essential reforms that are necessary.
