The position of pensioners is currently not at the level they have earned through their work and contribution to society, and the existing pensions are not enough to meet monthly living needs, agreed at a meeting between the leader of the People's Trust Movement, Dragoslav Dado Šćekić, and the president of the Party of Pensioners and Disabled, Momo Joksimović.
During the meeting, they discussed the position of pensioners in society, the amount of pensions, as well as the necessity of increasing them in line with the real costs of living, the People's Trust Movement announced.
As it is added, particular attention was paid to the negative impact of high inflation, as well as the rising prices of medicines and medical costs, which pensioners face on a daily basis.
Šćekić and Joksimović emphasized that the state must find effective mechanisms to protect this vulnerable social group, through systemic support, adequate adjustment of pensions, and better access to healthcare, in order to provide pensioners with dignified living conditions and a safer, more comfortable old age.
The People's Trust Movement and the Party of Pensioners and Disabled Persons have expressed their willingness to jointly represent the interests of pensioners through further cooperation and actively work to improve their position, the statement concludes.
