The winter tourist season in Žabljak is at last year's level, according to data from the local Tourist Organization (TO), while the Durmitor Tourist Center (TC), which manages the Savin Kuk ski resort, recorded around nine thousand visits with around 4,5 thousand ski passes sold.
The TO said that January was at the same level as last year, and that good visits were also recorded during February, especially on weekends.
The director of the Žabljak Tourist Office, Stojan Abazović, announced that during January they recorded visits from tourists from 36 countries around the world and that they are happy about it.
"We expect to have new snowfall, which is a condition for the arrival of tourists. During February, we expect primarily tourists from Serbia and Croatia," Abazović told the CGNews agency.
He pointed out that significantly fewer private accommodation capacities are available during the winter, and that the condition for this is the necessary investment in infrastructure that he expects from the state level.
"Žabljak needs large hotels, the reconstruction of the Savin Kuk cable car, and the renovation of smaller city cable cars that were previously in operation, in order to have a serious winter season," noted Abazović.
TC Durmitor is satisfied with the season, especially considering that the ski season at Savin Kuk started on January 12th.
The representative of TC Durmitor, Bojana Božović, said that from January 12th to today, around nine thousand guests have visited them, and around 4,5 thousand ski passes have been sold.
"There is enough snow, but new snowfall is expected," said Božović.
She reminded that ticket prices are at the same level as last year, namely 16 euros for adults and ten euros for children.
"Two ski lifts are open, while the cable car is in operation depending on weather conditions. During February, the most visitors are on weekends, and they are mostly locals and guests from the region. Discounts are provided for citizens of Žabljak and neighboring municipalities, while parking is free for all visitors," concluded Božović.
TO is announcing a new event for the end of February – the Durmitor Winter RUN, for which around 130 participants have already registered.
This is a winter trail race of a competitive and recreational nature intended for all runners, with guaranteed adventure and a good time on the snow-covered trails of Durmitor.
