Sunday should remain a non-working day - shop workers want a non-working Sunday, to have that safe non-working day for themselves and their families, said Civic Movement URA MP Miloš Konatar.
"Our obligation is to protect workers and provide them with at least one safe day off per week," he said.
He also points out that a large number of employers have shown understanding, which, he says, could be seen when shops remained closed on Sunday, February 15, even though they were allowed to operate according to the law.
"We must restore workers' faith that the institutions of the system will protect them in the event of injustice, but also increase mutual trust between employers and workers," Konatar emphasized.
In that sense, it is important, as he said, to continue the dialogue at the Social Council between representatives of employees and employers.
"Should the proposed solution be improved to be fair for everyone? Yes. Do we need to understand the needs of employers and the economy, especially during the tourist season? Yes. But also, it's not all about money, earnings, work - we need to slow down a bit and find time for ourselves and our family," the statement reads.
