Montenegro and Turkey have significant potential for improving bilateral economic cooperation, especially through concrete investment projects and exchange of experiences in the field of energy transition, assessed the Minister of Energy and Mining, Admir Šahmanović, and the newly appointed Turkish Ambassador, Ajda Unlu.
The interlocutors assessed that Montenegro and Turkey have continuously fostered good and very friendly relations, based on mutual respect and partnership.
"However, the common assessment is that there is always additional room for improvement in the area of economic cooperation," the statement said.
During the conversation, it was emphasized that stable political relations represent a strong framework for deepening investment and economic cooperation, especially in the energy sector, which is one of the strategic priorities for the development of Montenegro.
Šahmanović introduced Unla to Montenegro's key strategic goals in the energy transition process, emphasizing the country's commitment to decarbonizing the energy system, reducing dependence on fossil fuels, and accelerating investments in renewable energy sources.
It was particularly emphasized that Montenegro is working intensively to create a stable investment environment for the implementation of projects in the field of solar and wind energy, as well as other "green" energy sources, in full compliance with European legislation and environmental protection standards.
The interlocutors exchanged views on the possibilities of strengthening cooperation through the inclusion of Turkish companies in projects for the development of renewable energy sources, modernization of energy infrastructure and improvement of energy efficiency, with mutual interest in long-term and sustainable partnerships.
The meeting was attended by State Secretary Dino Tutundžić and Director General Majda Mujević, as well as Chief of Staff Ivana Smolović.
The interlocutors stated that they are ready to continue intensive dialogue and institutional cooperation with the aim of further strengthening the overall relations between the two friendly countries.
