Minister of Tourism Simonida Kordić met in Berlin with the Coordinator of the Federal Government of Germany for Maritime Economy and Tourism, Christoph Plos, and in the conversation they expressed satisfaction with the continuous growth in the number of German tourists visiting Montenegro.
"Special attention was paid to the development of maritime and sustainable tourism, as well as opportunities for strengthening cooperation in the field of tourism infrastructure, promotion and digitalization of the tourist offer. Significant potential for improving cooperation in the cruise tourism sector was also highlighted," the statement said.
During the fair in Berlin, Kordić also spoke with the chairwoman of the Armenian Tourism Committee, Lusin Gevorgyan.
There was talk of visa policy and the digitalization of tourism, while the Armenian side expressed concern about the possible absence of a temporary visa-free regime, given the increased interest of Armenian tourists in Montenegro.
Kordić emphasized that Montenegro's strategic priority is accession to the European Union (EU), but given that the Montenegrin economy relies predominantly on tourism, it is very important to consider digital and other models of visa issuance in order to simplify procedures and mitigate any negative effects on tourist movements.
A meeting was also held in Berlin with the Provincial Secretary for Economy and Tourism of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, Nenad Ivanišević, during which they discussed strengthening regional cooperation in the field of tourism, joint promotional activities and the organization of events - Vojvodina Day in Podgorica and Montenegro Day in Novi Sad.
Kordić emphasized that the Serbian market is of exceptional importance for Montenegro, and that the upcoming promotional activities represent an important step in further improving tourism cooperation and the visibility of both destinations.
