The greater participation of women in the creation of a business environment and the development of the economy is of great importance, whereby a way out of unemployment is sought through the development of female entrepreneurship, announced the Minister for Human and Minority Rights, Mehmed Zenka.

At the "Power of Women" conference, which marked World Women's Entrepreneurship Day, he said that a woman is essentially the initiator of many changes and that the potential she possesses should be enabled to realize it.

"Social policy, by strengthening the economic position of women through the development of female entrepreneurship, seeks a way out of unemployment in many countries, including in Montenegro, and greater participation of women in creating a business environment and developing the economy is of great importance," said Zenka.

At the conference, as announced by the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights, it was assessed that an economically strong woman achieves, awakens and strengthens herself.

The Minister of Economy, Dragica Sekulić, said that she believes that the Strategy for the Development of Women's Entrepreneurship will create the necessary prerequisites and foundations on which women will be able to equally express their entrepreneurial potential and improve their position in society on all grounds.

"Through the creation of a favorable business environment and support for the development of women's entrepreneurial potential, existing and new companies will be developed, new jobs will be created, and the SME and entrepreneurship sector in Montenegro will be developed overall," said Sekulić.

Permanent representative of the Office of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and coordinator of the UN System in Montenegro, Fiona McLooney, conveyed UNDP's conviction that the answer to the situation in the country lies in dedicated leadership, and said that she is satisfied that she is at the head of the women's economy department.

"It is very important to provide support for the creation of favorable conditions in this direction, including active participation in development policies, and the implementation of existing services in this area," McLuney added.

The representative of the Capital City, Vladimir Rajčić, spoke about the initiatives and commitment of the Capital City of Podgorica to the improvement of the business environment as one of the elementary prerequisites for the growth and development of the entire social community.

The President of the Association of Entrepreneurs of Montenegro, Edita Dautović, thanked everyone for their participation in the conference, especially the entrepreneurs from the region.

She stated that the examples of good practice and experiences that could be heard and exchanged at the conference were extremely useful in the further development of the field of female entrepreneurship in Montenegro.

The conference was organized by the Association of Entrepreneurs of Montenegro in partnership with the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights, the Office of the UN Development Program in Montenegro and the Capital City.
