The opening of the Wizz Air base at Podgorica Airport and the establishment of 17 new routes represents one of the most important steps forward in the development of air transport and tourism in Montenegro in recent years, said the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Airports of Montenegro, Stefan Madžgalj.
"This result is primarily a consequence of the clear development policy of the Government of Montenegro and Prime Minister Milojko Spajić, whose commitment to improving air connectivity and tourism in the country created the conditions for one of the largest European low-cost airlines to open its base in Podgorica," said Madžgalj.
He added that the management of the Airport of Montenegro, led by Director Roko Tolić, also played an important role in the implementation of the project.
"The results of this development policy are already visible through the growth in traffic, the number of passengers and the financial results of the company Airports of Montenegro, which confirms that stronger connections with the European market bring concrete economic benefits for the state and the company," said Madžgalj.
Wizz Air is opening its new base at Podgorica Airport on Monday, March 30th.
Wizz Air will base two Airbus A321neo aircraft in Podgorica and launch 17 new routes connecting the Montenegrin capital with Malmö, Paris, Hamburg, Maastricht, Catania (Sicily), Bratislava, Barcelona, Basel, Rzeszow, Rome, Baden-Baden, Cologne, Ljubljana, Poznań, Vilnius, Gdansk and Wrocław.
