The Union of Free Trade Unions (USSCG) will organize a protest in front of the Government building on Wednesday, due to the unsatisfactory attitude towards social dialogue and the union's demands for a wage increase.

The protest, titled Together for 100, will begin at 15:30 p.m.

"We invite you to join the fight to fulfill the common goal - increasing wages and signing a new General Collective Agreement (GCA), protecting economic and social position, preserving the role and importance of social dialogue and social partners," said the USSCG.

They said that they would not postpone the protest in the event that a meeting takes place in the coming days, unless an agreement is reached on increasing wages and signing a new collective bargaining agreement before it begins.

The USSCG added that the Executive Board made a decision at the beginning of the week to organize a protest, in order to express dissatisfaction with the attitude towards social dialogue and the union's demands for an increase in wages and the signing of a new Collective Bargaining Agreement.

They recalled that their decision was preceded by the failure to hold a meeting between social partners and Prime Minister Milojko Spajić, planned for April 17th, as agreed during their last meeting at the end of March.

"Ignoring our demands, delaying negotiations, failing to fulfill promises and making social dialogue meaningless are just some of the reasons that justify the call for rebellion. European Montenegro demands European wages. Economic growth and profit growth must be fairly and evenly distributed. The positive effects of the Europe Now 1 and 2 programs must be continued, and not collapsed under the pressure of inflationary trends, which as such contributed to the union consumer basket increasing by EUR 190 or ten percent in two years," the USSCG said.

They believe that the price growth trend has not been accompanied by an adequate increase in wages.

"As long as the budget, in the creation of which we as social partners are not allowed to participate, has money for party employment, millions in allocations for consulting and service contracts, and the costs of lost court proceedings, then it must certainly have money for employees," said representatives of the USSCG.

They said that solidarity and recognition of the importance of the moment are crucial for the further development of the situation, but also to remind decision-makers of the strength of unions and the working class.

"Our current attitude towards this issue will determine the future attitude of decision-makers towards us as trade unions and workers' representatives. It is time, due to the lack of dialogue, to undertake other, legally permitted forms of trade union struggle that we used in 2008, 2012, 2014 and 2018," the USSCG stated.

They called on citizens to show, in anticipation of International Labor Day, that solidarity transcends political and profit power.
