The development of interconnected energy systems represents the basis for a more secure, competitive and sustainable energy market in the region, assessed Minister of Energy and Mining Admir Šahmanović and relevant ministers from Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).

Šahmanović hosted in Tivat the Minister of Energy, Mining and Industry of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) Vedran Lakić and the Minister of Energy and Mining Petar Đokić, who were on an official visit.

"During the meeting, discussions focused on improving regional cooperation in the field of energy, with a special focus on connecting countries with modern gas infrastructure, as one of the important prerequisites for long-term energy stability and diversification of supply sources," the Ministry announced.

Special attention is paid to the energy transition process and the challenges it poses for the Western Balkan countries.

In this context, the need for more intensive exchange of experiences, harmonization of policies and joint definition of priorities when it comes to the development of renewable energy sources, modernization of the network and strengthening of energy efficiency was highlighted.

The ministers assessed that the countries of the region have a common interest in acting in a coordinated and partnership manner towards the European Union and international financial institutions, in order to provide stronger support for the implementation of capital energy projects and the acceleration of reform processes.

Šahmanović emphasized that Montenegro remains committed to regional cooperation and dialogue as the most effective path towards a more energy-secure and sustainable future.

"The energy challenges we face transcend the borders of individual countries. That is why it is important to build partnerships, connect infrastructure and jointly use the development opportunities that lie ahead for the region. Only through cooperation can we ensure a stable and modern energy system for our citizens and economy," said Šahmanović.

The interlocutors agreed that today's meeting will be an additional incentive to intensify cooperation in the coming period, through specific projects and regular communication between relevant institutions.
