Montenegro is interested in deepening cooperation with the United States of America (USA) through the existing economic dialogue, said Minister of Energy and Mining Admir Šahmanović.

He met with the US Ambassador to Croatia, Nicole McGraw, on the sidelines of the Three Seas Initiative summit and business forum.

As announced by the Ministry of Energy and Mining, the second day of the Forum was marked by important bilateral meetings and discussions on new investment opportunities for Montenegro, confirming that the energy sector is today one of the most dynamic segments of the country's development.

During the meeting, Šahmanović and McGraw discussed improving energy security, strengthening regional connectivity, and possibilities for implementing joint projects, with a special focus on the Adriatic-Ionian corridor.

The interlocutors also reviewed the results that Montenegro has achieved in the previous period in the field of energy - the launch of the process of connecting the domestic electricity market with the Italian market, the continuation of activities on the implementation of the second strand of the submarine cable to Italy, as well as the intensification of investments in the transmission network and new energy capacities.

Šahmanović, as stated, stressed a strong interest in deepening cooperation through the existing economic dialogue, as well as in the direction of signing a government-to-government agreement between Montenegro and the USA.

The Ministry stated that McGraw presented potential areas of cooperation, including the possibility of joining a regional initiative to strengthen the energy stability of the region, bringing investors to develop data centers in Montenegro, and investing in tourism infrastructure, including the development of golf courses.

"The interlocutors assessed that there is significant room for further improvement of the partnership and the implementation of specific investment projects that can contribute to the economic development of Montenegro, additional strengthening of the energy sector and stronger regional positioning of the country," the statement said.
