Jovanović: Budva Municipality account unblocked, salaries paid, attempts to create artificial problems eliminated

The President of the Municipality of Budva, Nikola Jovanović, announced today that the account of the Municipality of Budva was unblocked in an express manner, which, he said, eliminated all attempts to cause a standstill in the work of the local administration and create artificial problems in the functioning of the system.

"With the unblocking of the Budva Municipality account, all salaries were immediately paid to employees of the municipality, public services and institutions founded by the municipality, despite attempts by certain political entities to disturb employees and citizens by spreading panic and disinformation. This confirms the stable functioning of the system and a responsible attitude towards employees and their rights," Jovanović told "Vijesti".

He added that the blockade, which amounted to almost six million euros with interest and legal costs, was the result of a long-term court process.

"Overcoming it in record time is clear evidence of the financial liquidity, stability and ability of the Budva Municipality leadership to responsibly, transparently and efficiently manage public funds. Once again, we have shown how stable, strong and ready this administration is to respond to any challenge, without delay and without consequences for the functioning of the system. This has completely exposed the unfoundedness of the claims and attempts of political entities to achieve political profit through the spread of panic and disinformation. Once again, it has been shown that their attacks were unfounded, superficial and driven exclusively by daily political interests. If they had any moral and political responsibility, those who spread panic and disinformation would have issued a public apology to the citizens of Budva. However, such a level of responsibility cannot obviously be expected from them," Jovanović told "Vijesti".

In his words, the Municipality of Budva clearly sends a message that no attempt at financial destabilization has and will not succeed.

"The system functions stably, all obligations are being settled continuously, and budget management remains responsible and transparent," Jovanović emphasized.

It says that the citizens of Budva have the right to accurate information, not political constructs.

"That is precisely why this epilogue represents the best response to all those who tried to build their own political promotion on this situation. The Municipality of Budva continues to work at full capacity, in the interest of citizens, without interruption and without compromise on financial discipline and responsibility," concluded Jovanović.

The director of the Public Company for Coastal Zone Management, Mladen Mikijelj, sent a letter to Jovanović earlier today offering the state-owned company's help in overcoming the financial crisis in which the tourism metropolis found itself, due to which workers have not received their salaries.

The account of the Budva Municipality was blocked for 5,6 million euros after the forced collection of a final court verdict.
