During the main tourist season, from July 1 to September 9, inspection bodies will work in a five-shift regime, in order to ensure continuous and efficient supervision, and teams stationed in Kolašin will cover municipalities in the northern region.
This was announced after a meeting between the President of the Coordination Body for Harmonization and Monitoring of Inspection Supervision and Minister in the Government of Montenegro, Milutin Butorović, and the President of the Municipality of Kolašin, Petko Bakić, dedicated to the preparation of the upcoming summer tourist season.
As announced by the Minister's office, priorities in the implementation of the Action Plan were discussed, with a special focus on improving coordination between state administration bodies and local self-government units, as well as strengthening the operational capacities of inspection services.
"In accordance with the conclusions reached, it has been determined that during the main tourist season, from July 1 to September 9, inspection bodies will work in a five-shift regime, in order to ensure continuous and efficient supervision," the statement said.
Teams stationed in Kolašin will cover the municipalities of the northern region, namely: Mojkovac, Berane, Bijelo Polje, Rožaje, Plav and Gusinje, while, in addition to stationary teams, mobile teams will also be engaged for timely response in the field.
Butorović's office said that special emphasis during the meeting was placed on implementing measures aimed at combating the shadow economy, in accordance with applicable regulations, including control of unregistered accommodation services, the hiring of undeclared labor, as well as illegal activities in hospitality facilities (ethno villages, campsites).
According to them, increased supervision is planned in the area of providing services within the framework of sports, recreation and adventure activities, including jeep safaris, quad biking, horse riding, as well as control of tourist guides without the required license.
The participants of the meeting pointed out the need for increased inspection supervision over individuals who negligently dispose of waste along the Jezerine-Lubnice main road, as well as over entities that rent out accommodation facilities, with a special focus on providing food preparation and serving services in private accommodation.
"Special attention will also be focused on the supervision of active construction sites, with a clear commitment that inspection bodies act in a non-selective, professional and transparent manner," said Butorović's office.
Bakić introduced the members of the Coordination Body to the key challenges this municipality faces during the tourist season, especially in terms of illegal business and increased pressure on local infrastructure.
It was jointly assessed that continuous and coordinated cooperation between local and state authorities is of crucial importance for improving the quality of the tourist offer.
