Inspectors from the Market Inspection Directorate carried out 64 inspections during the May Day holidays, during which 55 irregularities were identified, the Ministry of Economic Development announced.

"In order to eliminate the identified irregularities and sanction traders who committed violations, market inspectors issued 55 decisions and issued 91 misdemeanor orders to the perpetrators in the total amount of 29,65 thousand euros," the statement said.

The Ministry announced that due to retail trade being conducted on national and other holidays, market inspectors closed 15 retail stores for the period during which work is not permitted.

"The Market Inspection Directorate will continue with continuous controls of compliance with the ban on the operation of wholesale and retail stores on Sundays and on public and other holidays, in order to ensure consistent implementation of legal provisions," the statement concludes.
