The media hysteria and coordinated campaign being waged these days against the Municipality of Budva and the Mayor of the Municipality, Nikola Jovanović, shows only one thing: that certain political centers of power are ready to collapse Budva at any cost, even by putting pressure on state institutions and attempting to politically instrumentalize the Protector of Property and Legal Interests of Montenegro.
This was announced by the Municipality of Budva in response to the text "Blockade abuse of state property? Protector of property and legal interests invited to investigate Budva's behavior towards the port".
When there are no results in the elections, as it is pointed out, then spin, pressure, constructions and false scandals begin.
"However, the citizens of Budva know very well who made Budva a tourist metropolis, and who made the Port of Budva a mockery of Montenegrin tourism.
The promenade is, as its name suggests, a walking zone for citizens and tourists, not a private service for the party interests of the NSD and the Coastal Zone. The time when trucks, chaos, improvisation and privileged individuals could occupy the contact zone of the Old Town is over. Budva belongs to the citizens, not to party combinations.
It is particularly hypocritical that today those who have brought the Port of Budva to a complete collapse are talking about "public interest". The port, which is managed by NSD and Morski dobro staff, is today probably the worst marina on the Adriatic. It is no longer a port, it is a symbol of party recruitment, disorder, ignorance and incompetence," the Budva Municipality's response states.
Instead of experts, as they emphasize, party activists were employed.
"Instead of investing in infrastructure, money was spent on indoctrinating subordinates. Today, you have almost a hundred so-called 'sailors' in the port, and there is no one to accept a ship, throw a rope or organize the tying of vessels. People who pay for berths and come to Budva are appalled by the level of chaos and unprofessionalism. Due to such management, two boats are pushed onto one berth. Whoever grabs a spot first stays, the second is left to circle and beg. Vessel owners are increasingly avoiding Budva precisely because of the catastrophic state that the Maritime Administration has created. We will also remind the public that your yacht burned in the port, while you did not even have basic firefighting equipment. You were not able to replace even worn-out ropes and bollards, and you are trying to convince citizens that you are capable of managing one of Budva's most important resources," the Municipality of Budva states.
And now, as they point out, after devastating the port, you are trying to profit politically through stories about the alleged "blockade", although the truth is completely different, the Municipality of Budva is the only institution trying to restore order, protect public space and prevent further collapse of the Old Town.
"If you are not capable of arranging the port, then step aside and let those who are. The Municipality of Budva is ready to invest funds, arrange the space and create a port worthy of Budva and Montenegro. All you have to do is stop bothering. Budva will not be a hostage to party recruitment, incompetence and political revenge. The time when individuals thought that Budva was their private fiefdom is over," the response concludes.
