Time has shown that it is pure luck for the citizens of Budva that the Port of Budva is not managed by the Municipality of Budva, announced today the Director of the Port of Budva, Nemanja Kuljača.
"With experts in the highest positions from the ranks of 'Budva our city', you have managed to go from 20 million euros in the account a few months ago to today having no money for salaries," Kuljača pointed out in a statement.
He reacted to the fact that the Municipality of Budva announced yesterday that the New Serbian Democracy (NSD) had devastated the Port of Budva, and was trying to crush the city through political pressure.
"These same experts from the BNG group with purchased high school and college diplomas want to be given the management of one of the most important resources of Budva and Montenegro to 'fix' it. It is clear to the citizens of Budva how much money the Municipality of Budva would 'invest' in the Port with zero euros in its account. Inappropriate and untrue comments from the Municipality are full of misinformation and ignorance, which is what they are known for, and all their actions boil down to misleading the public," Kuljača pointed out.
He added that investments in the Port's equipment and infrastructure in the last two years amount to three million euros.
"In addition, an investment cycle is underway on an even larger scale. The level of services has been raised to a higher level with constant improvement and professional staffing. The citizens of Budva have received an additional 120 municipal berths on favorable terms, so there are now a total of 340, which is the largest number ever and there will be even more. The income of the Port of Budva last year amounted to more than 1,1 million euros, which is almost equal to the amount of income the state had from the Port in the previous 20 years. These are measurable results that show everything to anyone who wants to see it. The demand for berths has never been higher, unfortunately for the representatives of the Municipality of Budva who are doing everything they can to support investments and the delivery of new, state-of-the-art equipment," said Kuljača.
He said that access to the Port has been banned by the Municipality of Budva.
"The municipality is not concerned with protecting the Old Town area, but exclusively with political showdowns, as evidenced by numerous videos of trucks on the promenade that only the privileged can access. The representatives of the municipality now blame everyone because they have no money in their accounts. They are seeing chases and attacks for a problem they created themselves. Get to work, provide the citizens with the services for which you were elected and paid, invest and pull the municipality out of the deficit that you yourself have brought it into. Stop talking politics. You promised big projects that have come to nothing. You have a lot of unfinished business even without the Port. Explain to the citizens of Budva why you are prohibiting a state-owned company from delivering goods and equipment to the Port to the detriment of the citizens of Budva and its tourist offer when you 'love' it so much. Because if you love it, you will not engage in cheap tricks, subterfuge and obstruction, but will stop breaking the law and enable what is ultimately the only normal thing, which is access to the Port and its progress," Kuljača concluded.
