The Ministry of Public Works has selected the bid of the consortium “Bemax - ING invest” worth 17.818.499 euros as the most favorable bid in the tender for the development of Božana Vučinić Square with the construction of an underground garage. This project in Podgorica is being implemented on a design-and-build basis.
It is planned that the contractors, after signing the contract, will complete the main project within five months, after which the works themselves will last two years. This consortium was the only one to participate in the tender, while their subcontractors will be “Bauriss”, “Termosistem”, “Geoengineering”, “Grid consultants”, “Geoprojekt”, Sigurnost”, “Planplus” and “ITS Engineering”.
The tender was announced at the end of October last year and lasted until the end of March, while its estimated value was 17.818.499 euros. That is how much the selected contractor offered.
Under the entire area of this Square, it is planned to build an underground garage on three levels, with a total of 348 parking spaces. The works will be carried out on a total of 8.400 square meters, and the area will be intended for pedestrians, with the movement of vehicles allowed for nearby areas and shops. There will be no works on nearby private buildings.
The total area of the three floors of the underground garage will be 10.849 square meters.
Wastewater from existing buildings along the northern side will be piped towards Ulica Bratstva i Jedinstva, into the existing city sewage collector, while that from the eastern and southeastern sides of the square will be directed to the collector towards Ulica Oktobarske revolucije. It is planned that wastewater from the toilets of the underground garage will be connected to the sewage collector in Ulica Kralja Nikole.
This project is being implemented by the department Majde Adžović in cooperation with the Capital City, and the reconstruction of the square and the construction of an underground garage are planned to contribute to better planning of public areas, improve the visual identity of the space and solve the problem of the lack of parking spaces in the inner city core.
When announcing the tender, the Capital City announced that during previous decades this area had been neglected and undervalued, and that it had great potential for development and future development, so due to its location and symbolic value it would be an important part of the urban life of Podgorica.
