Montenegro clearly confirms its European perspective, announced Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Development Nik Đeljošaj, adding that the goal is not just to attract investments, but responsible ones that bring modern standards and sustainable development.
At the RE:D conference, which began today in Budva, he said that the gathering confirms that there is a strong interest in discussing economic development.
"In times of global economic challenges and increasingly pronounced demands for sustainable development, it is particularly important to cultivate an environment that provides investors with security and citizens with opportunities for a better quality of life," said Đeljošaj.
The conference is being organized at a crucial moment for Montenegro, in a year when the country celebrates two decades of independence and when it is nearing the end of negotiations with the EU, reports Mediabiro.
It is a leading forum for investments, economics, finance, tourism and real estate development that brings together domestic, regional and global investors and experts.
The President of the Chamber of Commerce (PKCG), Nina Drakić, pointed out that the topic of investments is a much broader issue than the issue of capital and new projects.
"When we look at the period behind us, it is clear that Montenegro has undergone a strong economic and investment transformation. In the past twenty years, numerous projects have been implemented that have significantly changed the economic picture of the country, especially in the areas of tourism, real estate, infrastructure and energy," said Drakić.
During that period, as she stated, Montenegro positioned itself as an investment destination that managed to attract significant international capital and, despite numerous global crises and challenges, maintain investor interest.
"However, it is equally important that we openly discuss today what kind of investments we want in the next development phase, because the question of investments is not just how much capital is coming in, but what kind of development that capital drives," Drakić pointed out.
She added that Montenegro's entry into the EU will represent confirmation of legal certainty, compliance with European standards and long-term market stability for investors.
The President of the Municipality of Budva, Nikola Jovanović, said that the city is today one of the most dynamic urban economic centers, a city with strong investment potential, but also a city that clearly understands the scope of responsibility that such development entails.
"This conference contributes to a serious and responsible consideration of development policies. Budva is ready to be part of these processes," said Jovanović.
The representative of the RE:D conference organizer, Lazar Mišurović, wished the participants of the two-day conference quality work.
"This conference was not convened to simply analyze the challenges of the modern world, geopolitical processes and economic uncertainties, but to offer concrete proposals, sustainable solutions. Montenegro must be aware of its potential, but also its shortcomings, to honestly look ourselves in the eye and see how to make this country a better place to live," said Mišurović.
