The coordination body for the coordination and monitoring of inspections has stated that the Administration for the Protection of Cultural Heritage is responsible for returning the beach under the "Carine" company hotel in Baošići to its original condition, and that work is already underway.
Businessman Čedomir Popović's company "Carine" began work on filling and concreting the beach beneath their future hotel in Baošići without obtaining conservation conditions and approval from the Administration for the Protection of Cultural Heritage - which is why that institution ordered an immediate halt to the work in mid-February. The administration requested this because the work is being carried out in the UNESCO protected area of the Kotor area and in violation of prescribed procedures, while an area of 12.500 square meters has now been filled in on the site of the former 1.500 square meter beach.
"It was determined that the execution of the Decision on the return to the previous state, issued by the Administration for the Protection of Cultural Property, is within the jurisdiction of that institution, and that specific activities have already been undertaken to implement it," the body announced.
As stated in the statement, Minister without Portfolio and President of the Coordination Body for Harmonization and Monitoring of Inspection Supervision Milutin Butorović held an urgent meeting on the topic of cases of unauthorized construction in the Municipality of Herceg Novi, with special emphasis on the beach in Baošići owned by the company "Carine".
The meeting was attended by representatives of key institutions and inspections: Director of the Directorate for the Protection of Cultural Heritage Petra Zdravković, Director of the Public Company for the Management of the Maritime Zone of Montenegro Mladen Mikijelj and Head of the Service for the Development and Construction of the Maritime Zone at the Public Company for the Management of the Maritime Zone of Montenegro Miljana Miljanić, Acting General Director of the Directorate for Inspection Supervision at the Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Northern Development Vesna Bigović, Head of the Department for Impact Assessment and Strategic Environmental Impact Assessment Svetlana Živković and Marko Medenica, Head of the Service for General, Financial and Human Resources, representatives of the Environmental Protection Agency; as well as inspectors from the Inspection for Cultural Heritage, Construction Inspection, Maritime Navigation Safety Inspection and the Water Administration.
