Statis: Interest in Sveti Stefan is great, focus should be on improving Montenegro's airports

"I would like to thank Novak Djokovic, who is the brand ambassador of Aman. His support and presence with the local government and Aman operator has been very useful and I owe him a lot of gratitude. We will offer something to the Montenegrin community with him, in both locations – Sveti Stefan and Durmitor," said Adriatic Properties owner Petros Statis.

Interest in Sveti Stefan has been high since the announcement of its opening, said Adriatic Properties owner Patros Statis, adding that the return of global names is expected.

"The opening of Sveti Stefan this season and its revival, after being closed for five years, is great news. It will be easy to win back guests, as interest is already high on Booking," said Stathis at the RE:D conference in Budva, Mediabiro reports.

He added that it will be difficult to restore the workforce.

"Aman is stronger after five years. We missed a lot - two big weddings were supposed to take place at Sveti Stefan. We already have good vibes. Global names are expected to return, but I can't mention who they are. We are already seeing feedback, the interest that has arisen after the announcement of the reopening of Sveti Stefan. The reaction from all over the world has been incredible," Stathis said.

He stated that he is convinced that at this moment the Government, local community and citizens are more mature to accept significant tourism projects, and that they are ready to provide support to such an important resort.

"We are strong enough to put things back in place and to restore trust, especially among guests," said Stathis, but he did not specify when Sveti Stefan would open.

Statis announced that he will come to Montenegro soon.

"We will be there soon to celebrate the opening of the hotel. Together with you and the Government, I believe that you can truly have a successful period ahead," said Stathis, adding that EU membership is another positive thing happening to Montenegro.

He believes that not only good resorts are important for a successful season, but also transport connections.

"Airports are very important. Our clients want to get to our hotels very quickly. Traffic is a big challenge. I believe that the focus should be on improving Montenegro's airports and I think that is one of the most important elements for luxury tourism," said Statis.

He said that the opening of Sveti Stefan could also accelerate the development of tourism in the north, specifically the completion of the Durmitor Hotel, which will be managed by another Amana brand - Janu.

"I would like to thank Novak Djokovic, who is the brand ambassador of Aman. His support and presence with the local administration and Aman operator has been very useful and I owe him a lot of gratitude. We will offer something to the Montenegrin community with him, at both locations – both Sveti Stefan and Durmitor," said Stathis.

He also assessed that the arrival of the investor from the UAE, Mohamed Alabbar, represents a good move by the Government.

"Many of Montenegro's neighbors are trying to get him to invest with them. When he is part of the investor tower, then it is one of the best passports in the world," concludes Statis.
