The Electric Power Company of Montenegro (EPCG), at the initiative of the Minister of Energy and Mining Admir Šahmanović, has approved an extraordinary discount of 50 percent on part of the bill for consumed active electricity for the citizens of Rožaje and surrounding settlements, due to supply interruptions.

The Ministry of Energy and Mining announced that this decision represents a concrete response from the state and the energy sector to the difficulties faced by citizens of the north, but also an expression of responsibility and solidarity towards families who have suffered the consequences of power outages for days.

Šahmanović said that citizens should not bear the burden of the consequences of extraordinary circumstances and problems in the electricity network alone.

"When citizens are left without electricity for almost three days, it is our obligation to react quickly, responsibly and in solidarity. This is not just a matter of electricity bills, but of the state's relationship with citizens. That is why I have initiated that EPCG find a way to at least partially compensate people for what they have been through," said Šahmanović.

He welcomed EPCG's decision, emphasizing that it confirms the socially responsible attitude of the national energy company towards citizens.

"Such decisions show that state-owned companies understand the needs of citizens and are ready to act responsibly, in solidarity and in the interest of the community in challenging situations. It is precisely such a relationship that strengthens citizens' trust in institutions and the energy sector," said Šahmanović.

He added that the decision to reduce part of the bill is the result of joint action by institutions and EPCG, with the aim of sending a message to citizens that they are not alone.

"Energy security also implies responsibility towards people. In moments when the system fails or serious disruptions occur, institutions must demonstrate the ability to stand by citizens with concrete measures, not just words," said Šahmanović.

An extraordinary discount of 50 percent on the portion of the bill for consumed active electricity will be calculated for users from areas that were affected by several days of power outages.

This move, as announced by the Ministry of Energy and Mining, confirmed the commitment of that department and EPCG to, in addition to investing in the development and modernization of the energy system, pay special attention to protecting the interests of citizens and preserving public trust in the energy sector.

EPCG: Continued commitment to protecting citizens' interests and the principles of corporate social responsibility

EPCG announced that the Board of Directors of that company has made a decision to approve an extraordinary discount in the amount of 50% on the calculated active electricity for households belonging to the organizational unit Rožaje FC Supply, for the month of May 2026, thus confirming its continued commitment to protecting the interests of citizens and the principles of socially responsible business.

"This decision was made at the initiative of the Minister of Energy and Mining Admir Šahmanović and member of the Board of Directors Irfan Husović, which further affirms institutional coordination in order to provide support to citizens in circumstances that require special sensitivity and a responsible approach. By taking this measure, EPCG confirms its role as a responsible entity that carefully monitors consumer needs and reacts in a timely manner in situations when it is necessary to provide additional support. At the same time, with such decisions, the company reaffirms its commitment to improving the quality of life of its users as one of the key business priorities," the statement states.

EPCG added that through concrete activities, they continue to foster good business practices and strengthen trust with the communities in which they operate, with a consistent and responsible attitude towards consumers.

"Elektroprivreda Crne Gore remains a reliable partner to citizens, with a clear commitment to contribute to the improvement of the quality of life and the overall development of the community through sustainable and socially responsible measures," EPCG said.
