Nenezić convenes an emergency session of the Bar Municipal Assembly on the Law on Free Zones

The President of the Municipal Assembly (MA) of Bar, Branislav Nenezić, has called an emergency session of the local parliament for May 25th, the agenda of which includes the item - Information on the status of the Free Zone of the Port of Bar and the potential institutional and economic consequences of the adoption of the Law on Free Zones.

This is the result of yesterday's Open Parliament of the Bar Assembly entitled "Is the Port of Bar Free Zone 'Captured'?", which was attended and participated by numerous business entities operating in the territory of the free zone.

They have made numerous criticisms of the Law on Free Zones and expressed their concern for the further business and development of the Port of Bar as a logistical, economic and strategic center. Some of the consequences of the implementation of this law have been an empty Port of Bar, the departure of renowned foreign companies, job losses, millions in financial damages...

It was agreed at the Open Parliament that representatives of these companies will, in cooperation with local assembly members, reach certain conclusions in the coming days, and they will move in the direction of the need to amend this law, postpone its implementation, assess its constitutionality, and create a working group that will define the way of working in the meantime, until a solution to their problems is found.

Nenezić announced yesterday that he would convene an emergency session of the local parliament to discuss the matter, and said that he expects the support of all 37 councilors so that they can jointly submit an initiative to the Government of Montenegro, which will be proposed in the conclusions.
