The head of the European Union parliamentary group, Boris Mugoša, announced today that the price of diesel should be 15 cents lower.
Mugoša stated in a statement that "For several weeks now, the government has been avoiding explaining to the public its decision to reduce the percentage of excise duty reduction on diesel (from 50% to 35%, then to 30%, so that last week and this week the percentage of excise duty reduction was 20%)."
"As a result of all this, the price of diesel is 15,16 cents higher than it would have been if the Government had reduced excise duties on fuel by 50%, which the law allows. The price of diesel that will be in effect from tomorrow is 25% or 35 cents per liter higher than two months ago," Mugoša said.
In his words, "all these increases in the prices of petroleum products have already affected the growth of the annual inflation rate, which, for example, in April is 22% higher than in March, while April recorded the highest monthly inflation rate in that month since 2023."
