The Government today adopted the Information on support to agricultural producers for the excise portion of fuel costs.
The Government announced that in the discussion on the topic, it was emphasized that high fuel costs significantly increase the total costs of production, thus reducing the profitability of agricultural production.
"In this context, it was concluded that cheaper fuel for agricultural producers, i.e. fuel whose price is reduced by the value of excise duty, can help maintain the competitiveness of domestic agricultural production and ensure a stable food supply," the statement said after the Government session.
In accordance with the latest amendments to the Law on Excise Duties, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management has determined the quantities for registered agricultural holdings based on the total area of arable agricultural land per hectare, namely for the field sector 110 liters per hectare, and in the fruit, viticulture and olive growing sector 70 liters per hectare annually, and for meadows 40 liters per hectare annually.
"To implement this support, according to data on subsidized areas last year, which amounted to 45,18 thousand hectares, it is necessary to provide 1,08 million euros," the statement added.
