Representatives of the Ministry of Tourism and the Faculty of Architecture signed a memorandum of cooperation aimed at stronger connections and joint action through various forms of cooperation of mutual interest.

The memorandum, as explained by the Ministry, represents the basis for intensifying cooperation in areas that connect tourism, architecture and spatial development, and includes organizing joint activities, workshops, expert meetings and other projects that can contribute to the improvement of both areas.

Minister of Tourism Simonida Kordić said that there is very frequent interaction between tourism and urban planning, or architecture, at all levels.

"Architecture is an important area for tourism. Some countries have built their image and tourist recognition precisely on architectural heritage. I am glad that we have formalized cooperation. You have an open door with us, because this Ministry very much recognizes the complexity of the branch it manages," said Kordić.

She added that architecture interprets the level of culture of a community in a special way, and that a well-designed space represents an important segment of the overall tourist offer.

The Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, Svetlana Perović, stated that both tourism and architecture deal with space, but from different perspectives.

"Architecture deals with space in order to build upon and improve it, while tourism brings it closer to people. That is precisely why there is great room for joint action and the development of new initiatives," said Perović.

Kordić and Perović agreed that there are numerous opportunities to strengthen cooperation between the two institutions, including organizing workshops and other joint activities, expressing the expectation that the memorandum will result in concrete projects and initiatives in the coming period.
