Boris Mugoša also proposed that the movements in consumer prices and average wages in the previous four months be compared with the same period last year, instead of with the four-month period preceding them.

The President of the European Union (EU) parliamentary group, Boris Mugoša, proposed correcting the formula for adjusting pensions by using, instead of the general inflation rate, the inflation rate of products and services that pensioners mainly use, if that is more favorable for them.

He also suggested that consumer price movements and average wages in the previous four months be compared with the same period last year, instead of with the four-month period preceding them.

"This would allow pensions to be increased quarterly in a more adequate manner than under the existing legal solution," Mugoša said in a statement.

He added that the last two pension increases, due to legal harmonisation, were inappropriate.
