Citizens and the economy are bearing the burden of the energy crisis, while the state is profiting from it, announced the president of the European Parliament's Caucus, Boris Mugoša.
He stated that due to the fact that the Government, without any explanation, decided last week to abolish the legally permitted percentage reduction in excise duties and to include the full amount of excise duties (44 cents per liter) in the price of diesel, which are state and budget revenue, citizens will pay 1,7 euros for one liter of diesel from today.
According to Mugoša, this is 36 cents per liter more than a few months ago, or a 27 percent increase in the price of diesel.
On that difference of 36 cents, the state earns an additional six cents per liter based on VAT, which is also calculated on excise taxes.
Mugoša reminds that the state earns over 70 cents from the price of a liter of fuel through excise taxes and VAT.
He also stated that the increase in fuel prices also affects the prices of numerous goods and services, as evidenced by the growth in both monthly and annual inflation rates in previous months.
