Tax Administration and Public Revenue Administration of North Macedonia: The important role of regional cooperation

Regional cooperation plays an irreplaceable role in the reform process being implemented by the Montenegrin Tax Administration and the Public Revenue Administration of North Macedonia, their representatives assessed.

"Direct exchange of knowledge and experience between administrations facing similar challenges contributes to better quality solutions and faster achievement of results," it was announced at a meeting organized as part of a working visit dedicated to the exchange of experiences and strengthening regional cooperation in the process of modernizing tax administrations in Podgorica.

Representatives of the two institutions said that cooperation must be continued and improved through concrete forms of professional exchange.

The Tax Administration announced that during the meeting, views were exchanged on key topics of modern tax administration: digitalization of business processes, improvement of electronic services for taxpayers, and tax risk management.

"Special attention was paid to experiences in the field of e-fiscalization, which is already yielding measurable results in terms of transparency and efficiency of the tax system in the region," the statement said.

During the conversation, representatives of the Tax Administration shared their experiences in introducing the Integrated Revenue Management System (IRMS), which has been in use since the beginning of the year.

"The challenges that accompanied the implementation process were discussed, approaches to overcoming them, as well as the concrete effects that the system achieves in improving tax administration," the statement said.

The delegation of North Macedonia, as announced, expressed significant interest in this area, emphasizing that the direct experiences of institutions that have gone through a similar process represent a particularly valuable source of knowledge.
