The Gvozd wind farm (WP), since its commissioning on May 9th, has produced around 10,5 percent of the planned annual production, which, as announced by the Electric Power Company of Montenegro (EPCG), confirms the importance of this project for the energy system of Montenegro.

"With the completion of the Gvozd-Nikšić transmission line, a more reliable network and safer distribution of energy from the Gvozd and Krnovo wind farms will be ensured," said Mrdak.

According to her, the wind assessment study used results from four measurement sites, while the turbine modeling used results from two measurement sites.

"Based on these analyses, the installation of turbines manufactured by Nordex, type N163, is planned," said Mrdak.

She explained that the connection of the Gvozd wind farm to the power system is realized through the newly built 33/110 kV Gvozd substation and two transmission lines Gvozd–Krnovo and Gvozd–Nikšić.

"With the completion of the Gvozd-Nikšić transmission line, the N-1 safety principle will be achieved and the ring configuration will be completed via the Nikšić substation," said Mrdak during the presentation.

According to her, this will result in a more reliable network, as well as more reliable energy distribution, both from the Gvozd wind farm and the Krnovo wind farm.

"The connection of the turbines to the wind farm itself was realized via cable, through two groups, or two entrances to the substation," said Mrdak.

Dušan Mijušković, the engineer responsible for civil works, recalled that construction works on the Gvozd wind farm began on December 6, 2024.

"They included the construction of access roads, turbine assembly plateaus, wind turbine foundations, power line and underground cable infrastructure, as well as works on the Gvozd and Krnovo substations," said Mijušković.

When it comes to the construction of roads and plateaus, he said that more than 140 thousand cubic meters of stone and buffer material were used to replace the subsoil and build buffer layers.

"For the needs of one wind turbine foundation, more than 111 tons of reinforcement and more than 800 cubic meters of concrete were installed, and the concreting process lasted more than 20 hours," said Mijušković.

He said that the company Nordex was responsible for installing the wind turbines.

"The total height of the turbine is 194,5 meters, while the diameter of the propeller is 163 meters. The turbine consists of a 109,79-meter-high tower, a nacelle, a rotor and three blades, each 81,5 meters long," Mijušković said.

When it comes to transportation, he explained that the most demanding was the transport of the blades, due to their length of 81,5 meters, while the most demanding in terms of weight was the lower section of the column, which weighs about 80 tons.

According to him, as part of the project, works were also carried out on the Krnovo and Gvozd substations, as well as on the 110 kV Gvozd-Krnovo transmission line, 3.125 meters long, on which 15 poles were installed, nine supporting and six tensioning.
