Radulović: Sailing rules will apply to everyone, the goal is a safe summer at sea and on the lake

The safety of swimmers, tourists and all participants in maritime traffic at sea and Lake Skadar will be the absolute priority of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs this summer, said the relevant Minister Filip Radulović during today's inspection in the Blue Cave.

He pointed out that they entered this season with significantly more rigorous navigation controls, with the clear goal of ensuring a safe and carefree summer for all citizens and visitors.

"The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and all competent services are ready to meet their obligations at any time and ensure the highest level of safety at sea. Supervision and control of navigation will be carried out on multiple levels - using drones from the air, through the continuous presence of inspectors in the field, as well as through the VTMIS system with vessel tracking via AIS devices," said Radulović.

According to him, the message is clear - the rules will apply to everyone, and their compliance will be subject to increased supervision throughout the summer season.

"Our goal is not punishment, but prevention and protection of human lives," Radulović emphasized.

He added that a special novelty this season is the new Regulations on Navigation Safety, which prohibit the entry of motorized vessels into the Blue Cave area.

"We have adopted this measure to reduce the risk of accidents and additionally protect visitors to one of the most attractive natural sites on our coast. There is no alternative to safety," said Radulović.

As he added, this summer they will resolutely apply all available measures to make the Montenegrin sea safer and the stay there more enjoyable for everyone.

He also said that 12 vessels were sanctioned today for violating navigation rules.

"The vessel found in the Blue Cave area was immediately removed from traffic and is facing a ban on its activities due to endangering human lives at sea," Radulović pointed out.

As stated in a statement by the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, in addition to navigation safety inspectors, representatives of the Maritime Safety Administration and the border police participated in today's action.
