A coordinated action of joint inspections in the territory of 12 municipalities resulted in over 217 thousand euros in fines being imposed in the period from May 20 to 24, on the occasion of Independence Day.

At the session of the Coordination Body for Harmonization and Monitoring of Inspection Supervision, chaired by Minister without Portfolio, Milutin Butorović, the reports on the work of inspections for May were adopted and the results of increased control during Independence Day were summarized.

"In the period from May 20 to 24, on the occasion of Independence Day, a coordinated action of joint inspections was carried out in the territory of 12 municipalities, with the aim of improving the legality of business, protecting consumers and preserving the public interest in conditions of increased holiday activities and increased tourist traffic," the statement said.

A total of 47 inspectors from the tax and labor inspectorates, sanitary, tourism, market and food safety inspectorates participated in this comprehensive action.

Joint inspections were carried out in the territories of the municipalities of Podgorica, Kotor, Budva, Žabljak and Rožaje, while the tax and market inspectorates, in accordance with their operational plans, additionally carried out controls in Bar, Ulcinj, Cetinje, Nikšić, Kolašin, Herceg Novi and Danilovgrad.

During the five-day holiday campaign, 279 inspections were carried out.

The number of warnings issued is 17, the number of decisions to eliminate irregularities is 11, the number of decisions to prohibit traffic is four, and the number of misdemeanor orders issued is 205.

The total amount of fines imposed was 217,39 thousand euros.

The President and members of the Coordination Body assessed the action as very successful, both in terms of organization and in terms of achieved results.

It was emphasized that the high intensity of activities, but also the present level of irregularities in the field, confirm the clear need for continuous and joint action by all inspection services.

The session also considered the request of the Director of the Metrology Institute for the implementation of coordinated inspection supervision.
