Tax Administration: 14 facilities closed, 910.800 euros in fines imposed

Tax inspectors have closed 14 facilities since May and issued a total of 267 misdemeanor orders, totaling 910.800 euros.

The Tax Administration announced that intensive activities are being carried out as part of increased inspection supervision during the summer tourist season, and that the focus of controls is on high-risk activities, with the primary goal of combating the informal economy, protecting the budget and ensuring equal business conditions for all economic entities.

"In the period from May 1 to July 8, tax inspectors carried out a total of 1.129 inspections throughout Montenegro. The inspections determined that 177 taxpayers did not fully comply with tax regulations. On this basis, a total of 267 misdemeanor orders were issued, in the total amount of 910.800 euros," it was announced.

The highest number of irregularities was found in Budva (40), Ulcinj (32), Bar (31) and Herceg Novi (23), while the lowest number was recorded in Kotor (8) and Cetinje (5), and one irregularity was found in Nikšić, Kolašin and Bijelo Polje.

The Tax Administration explained that the largest number of violations identified relate to taxpayers who perform hospitality activities.

"Of the total number of misdemeanor orders issued, 85 taxpayers accepted responsibility for the offense committed and, in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Misdemeanors, paid half of the imposed fine, in the total amount of 200.150 euros. A ban on performing activities was imposed on 14 taxpayers."

The Tax Administration announced that increased field controls will continue throughout the summer to protect public revenues.

"In order to ensure financial discipline, we invite citizens to be our partners and report any irregularities they notice, primarily failure to issue invoices, immediately by calling the Call Center number 19707 or via the 'Be Responsible' platform," it was announced.
