Government: First shift of inspectors issued misdemeanor warrants worth 1,78 million euros in the first 15 days of July

The first shift of inspectors for the summer season issued misdemeanor orders in the first 15 days of July in the amount of 1,78 million euros, which, together with the amount of fines in the pre-season, amounts to around 2,5 million euros, the Government announced.

At the session of the Coordination Body for Harmonization and Monitoring of Inspection Supervision, chaired by Minister without Portfolio Milutin Butorović, the reports on the work of inspections for June were adopted and an amendment to the Decision on the Establishment of the Working Group for the Preparation and Monitoring of the Summer Tourist Season was made.

Members of the Coordination Body discussed the results of joint inspections conducted in Perast and Plav.

"The session also considered the initiative of the Association of Real Estate Agencies of Montenegro, which requested inter-institutional cooperation in order to combat illegal mediation in real estate transactions," the Government announced.

Representative of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and member of the Coordination Body, Novica Mijović, introduced the attendees to the challenges in maritime transport during the season and activities aimed at overcoming them.

"The results of increased controls during the summer tourist season were discussed, with the assessment that coordinated inspections are yielding concrete results on the ground," the statement said.

In addition to the six permanently engaged inspectorates – labor, sanitary, tourism, market, tax and food safety inspectorates, other inspectorates were also engaged from time to time.

"Other inspections will be included in the coming period," the statement said.

During the inspection supervision, good cooperation was achieved with the Police Directorate and local government inspections in the municipalities where joint inspections are conducted in accordance with the Action Plan for the Preparation and Monitoring of the Summer Tourist Season.

"Particular attention was paid to the serious problem of unregistered private accommodation and failure to register guests, which costs the state budget millions of euros annually. In the coming period, as a first step in solving this problem, the Coordination Body will work on establishing closer cooperation and exchange of information with municipalities and local inspections," the statement added.

The Coordination Body announced that increased inspections will continue throughout the summer tourist season, with a focus on preserving the public interest.
