A large solar power plant is planned in Morača, documentation submitted to the Municipality of Kolašin

In the area of ​​the cadastral municipality of Bare (Morača), the construction of a conductive solar power plant (PP) is planned, and a request for the need to prepare a study on the impact of that facility on the environment has been submitted to the Municipality of Kolašin.

According to the documentation provided by the investors Danica Pajović i SP submitted, the SE will be on plots 575 and 576. This location was allegedly carefully selected outside urbanized areas, and is characterized by predominantly natural and semi-natural areas, which is key to minimizing the impact on settlements.

The plant is expected to have an installed capacity of 3003 kilowatt-peak (kWp) on the DC side, with a production of 2.500 kW (2,5 MVA) of alternating current (AC), which will be directly fed into the electricity distribution grid. The plant will consist of approximately 4200 bifacial, “half-cell” solar panels, each with a power of 715 Wp. The annual electricity production is expected to be 3.507,5 MWh.

In addition to the panels, the project also includes the accompanying electrical infrastructure: prefabricated structures, 300 kW and 200 kW inverters for converting direct current into alternating current, and a substation with a 3 MVA transformer. A 2,5 kilometer overhead transmission line is also planned for connection to the grid.

As stated in the documentation accompanying the application, the project will have a minimal environmental footprint. As a solar power plant, it will not produce harmful gas emissions, wastewater or significant noise during operation. However, the documentation clearly specifies measures to mitigate any potential impacts:

“The location has been selected on land of lower agricultural value. Although some of the vegetation will be removed, significant areas between the rows of panels will be preserved under grass cover, with maintenance by mowing, without the use of herbicides. Vegetation removal works will be coordinated with periods outside the peak reproductive activity of animals (mid-March to mid-July) in order to protect local fauna. Anti-reflective layers on the panels will reduce the “water surface effect” that can disorient birds,” the documentation says.

In addition to the production part, the project includes the construction of supporting electrical and traffic infrastructure. The scope includes the construction of a substation at the solar power plant location, which represents the starting point of the system connection, as well as an internal traffic network and service areas for the needs of the plant's operation.

"The power plant's connection to the electricity grid is planned via an overhead transmission line, the route of which passes through several cadastral municipalities, including Bare, Žirci and Raško Mioska. The transmission line connects the production facility with the switchgear, which is planned in the area of ​​the cadastral municipality of Raško Mioska and represents the final connection point to the electricity system," the request for the study explained.
