Montenegro has one of the most competitive profit taxation systems in Europe, and guarantees foreign investors equal treatment and unlimited property rights, announced the President of the Chamber of Commerce (PKCG), Nina Drakić.
"Montenegro offers international investors numerous competitive advantages. The visit of the President of Montenegro to Egypt, together with prominent representatives of the business community and state institutions, represents an excellent opportunity for the joint promotion of our potential," said Drakić, who was in Egypt as a member of the delegation as part of the official visit of the President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović.
As part of the visit, a roundtable discussion was held on the topic of business and economic cooperation between the two countries, hosted by the Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of Egypt, Mohamed Farid Salehi, and Milatović.
"As a member of NATO and the most advanced candidate country in the process of joining the European Union, Montenegro provides political stability, legal security and a predictable business environment. The euro is our official currency," Drakić stated.
She added that Egypt is a country with strong potential that can count on the investment opportunities of the Montenegrin economy, with particular emphasis on the need to initiate new large investments by the Egyptian side, such as the successful Luštica Bay project.
"One of the best examples of investment cooperation is the internationally recognized Luštica Bay development project, which is being implemented by the Egyptian-Swiss consortium Orascom Development Holding. This project has become one of the leading tourism and investment projects in Montenegro and clearly shows that Egyptian investors can successfully implement long-term, world-class projects in our country," Drakić stated.
She said that she hopes that this example will encourage many other companies to explore the investment opportunities that Montenegro offers.
In addition to tourism, there are great opportunities for cooperation in the field of renewable energy sources, especially solar energy, in which both countries are investing heavily, as well as in construction, logistics, maritime transport, information and communication technologies, innovation, agriculture and the food industry. It is in these sectors that partnerships can create long-term value for companies from both countries.
On the Montenegrin side, in addition to representatives of the Chamber of Commerce, the roundtable was also attended by the Director of the Investment Agency Mirjana Kojić, the Director of the Port Authority of Kotor Stanko Deretić, and a member of the Board of the Port of Bar Nikola Vojvodić.
The roundtable was preceded by a bilateral meeting between the two delegations, hosted by the Prime Minister of Egypt, Mustafa Madbouly.
