Spajić: We could have been more coordinated, it is important that we prevented sudden inflationary pressures in time

Prime Minister Milojko Spajić admitted that they could have been "more coordinated" when it came to yesterday's fuel price announcements, but said it was important that they prevented sudden inflationary pressures in time.

He responded to a user on the social network X, who said that the Prime Minister "earned" 70 cents because he filled up on fuel yesterday after, before the Government informed the public about the decision to adjust excise taxes, the Ministry of Energy and Mining announced that fuel prices would increase from Tuesday.

Spajić replied that the money "came to him" from opposition MPs who "panicked" him, to which the user reminded him that the energy department, headed by Admir Šahmanović, had informed citizens about the fuel price increase.

"His service publishes it independently of the Ministry of Finance, of course - more so that gas station owners know the weighted price for the previous week and their margin for the following week. The Ministry of Finance separately publishes the excise duty discount - if it is established, it is essentially an essential part that concerns the state's share in the price. Everyone ran to panic a bit, but we could have been more coordinated, hand in hand. The important thing is that we prevented sudden inflationary pressures in time," Spajić replied.
