The Municipality of Kolašin has announced a tender for the adaptation and rehabilitation of the Mrtvo Duboko–Pjenavac Bridge road, and the estimated value of the works is 165.200 euros, excluding VAT.
The works will be carried out on a section of about 1,6 kilometers long, with two arms of about 191 and 42 meters long. The plan is to arrange and profile a four-meter-wide road, clean shoulders and earthen channels, as well as lay new layers of stone material and asphalt.
A new six-centimeter-thick road surface is planned, as well as drainage along the road. Shoulders will also be built on both sides of the road, each half a meter wide.
The works also include the renovation of the bridge. One meter wide pedestrian paths will be built and a 20 meter long pedestrian fence will be installed. It is also planned to install one meter diameter pipe culverts, which will serve to drain water under the road.
The contractor will, after being hired, have 30 days to complete the work.
The municipality has announced a tender for the construction of the bridge on the Pčinja River for the fourth time. Previous public procurement procedures were canceled because no bids were received within the stipulated deadline, even though the funds for the investment have more than doubled compared to last year.
The construction of that facility, according to the public procurement announced by the Municipality of Kolašin, was supposed to cost 270.000 euros, including VAT.
The new bridge was to be built on the site of a temporary and, according to locals, very unstable bridge, which is the only connection between several dozen households in Lugovi and Pješčanica and the main road.
According to the project documentation, a reinforced concrete bridge with a total length of 30 meters was to be built on the Pčinja River. The bridge is divided into three spans: a central span of 20 meters and two lateral spans of five meters each. The carriageway is 5,90 meters wide, with two pedestrian lanes.
In letters to local and state institutions, residents also pointed out the damage that heavy vehicles cause to road infrastructure. They recalled that the previous bridge was built by the Army in 1999, and that the 1.200-meter-long asphalt road was built in 2017 with funds from the Public Works Administration. Both structures were designed for a load of up to ten tons.
According to an earlier estimate by a design company from Podgorica, the preparation of documentation, works, landscaping of the banks of the Pčinja River, and supervision would cost between 60.000 and 70.000 euros.
Last year, the Municipality of Kolašin allocated 130.000 euros for the construction of a new bridge on the Pčinja River, but the Mayor of the Municipality, Petko Bakić, later said that this amount was not sufficient for the realization of the project.
The new bridge has been planned for years, after the previous one was washed away by a flood in 2021. The temporary bridge that the Municipality then erected soon began to be used for freight traffic, which led locals to warn about its instability and the risk of collapse.
The previous bridge was built by the Army in 1999, while the 1.200-meter-long asphalt road was built in 2017 with funds from the Public Works Administration.
