Police: 1,2 billion euros collected in eight months

The Tax Administration (TA) collected gross tax revenues of 1,2 billion euros in the first eight months of this year, which is nine percent or 98 million euros more than in the same period last year.

"A stable collection trend has been recorded in several tax categories. When it comes to value added tax (VAT), 379,9 million euros were collected in the first eight months, which is an increase of 19,3 million compared to the same period last year," the Tax Administration said in a statement.

Corporate income tax collection amounted to 228,5 million euros, which is 9,3 million euros or four percent more than in the same period last year.

"In the collection of contributions, an increase of 28 million euros or 10,5 percent was achieved compared to the previous year, with the Pension and Disability Insurance Fund making the largest contribution to this growth, with a collection of 249,7 million, or an increase of 10,7 percent," the Public Administration said.

They added that the achieved results confirm the continuation of positive trends in this area. A positive trend was also recorded in the collection of concession revenues, which amounted to 69,3 million euros and was 21 percent higher than last year.

"During the summer tourist season, significant budget revenues were achieved through the intensification of activities aimed at increasing the degree of voluntariness in reporting and paying tax obligations, strengthening proactive communication and service approach towards taxpayers, as well as through increased inspection supervision," the statement said.

As they announced, the Tax Administration will continue to implement planned reforms, modernize processes and further improve the efficiency of public revenue collection in the coming period, with the clear goal of raising taxpayers' awareness of the importance of timely settlement of legal obligations.
