Bar recorded an increase in tourist traffic from May to August, while cruise ships will bring a total of around 128 thousand passengers to the city by the end of October. From May to July, around 140 arrivals were registered, 16 percent more than last year, and in August, almost 50 thousand more guests were registered in individual accommodation.

"Vijesti" was told this by the Tourist Organization (TO) of Bar, headed by Marina Trceta, and specified that 140.119 arrivals were recorded in this coastal city from May to July this year, or 16 percent more than in the same period in 2025. During those months, 1.041.439 overnight stays were recorded, or 11 percent more than in 2025.

However, the Tourist Board of Bar notes that the Statistical Office - MONSTAT has not yet published official data on collective accommodation for August this year, but that they have data related to individual accommodation for August, which shows that there were 48.869 guest arrivals, which is six percent more than in August last year, while 420.172 overnight stays were achieved, or three percent more than last year.

When it comes to the structure of guests who stayed in the Bar municipality, the Bar Tourist Office told the list that the most numerous guests were from countries in the region, followed by guests from Poland, Germany, Russia, France, Ukraine, the United States of America and Hungary.

Numerous tourists came to Bar by sea, when they sailed into the Port of Bar on a cruise ship, and the Bar Tourism Office says that the seven-month cruising season began at the end of March and will last until October 26, so during that period, 41 cruise ships with 128.000 passengers will sail into Bar.

According to announcements, around 15.000 tourists will arrive in Bar during September, as well as more than 5.000 crew members.

Monitoring and recording passengers is the responsibility of the shipping agent, they explained, and based on the documentation submitted by the agent, the company "Port of Adria" forwards official and accurate data on the number of passengers to all competent authorities.

The next cruise ship announced to arrive in Bar is the “Sun Princess”, and its arrival is expected on September 15th.

Responding to the editorial team's questions about the tourist tax, the Bar Tourist Board said that, compared to the previous year, 13 percent more revenue was generated from the collection of the tourist tax, "which represents a significant indicator of the growth of tourist traffic in our municipality," but they did not want to give a figure.

"The increase in revenue is the result of a larger number of guests and overnight stays, but also improved records and collection of tourist tax," they assessed.

The Bar Tourist Organization generally assesses this year's summer tourist season as very successful, and they are particularly pleased with the fact that the achieved results show an increase in tourist traffic compared to the previous year, "but also confirm that Bar is increasingly strengthening its position as a recognizable, safe and attractive tourist destination."

They believe that the increased number of arrivals, overnight stays and higher tax collection is the result of several factors - more intensive promotion of the destination and good cooperation with the tourism industry and all relevant institutions, and they add that Bar is recognized as a safe and secure destination, which is especially important in the modern tourism market.

"It is also encouraging that, in addition to traditional guests from the countries of the region, we are recording an increasing presence of tourists from other source markets, including Poland, Germany, France, Russia, Ukraine, Great Britain, Scandinavian countries, the United States of America and other countries," they told the editorial staff.

A special contribution to the tourist offer was made by numerous events and manifestations, announced the Tourist Office, which further enriched the guests' stay and made Bar a more interesting destination.

It was precisely the combination of quality promotion, in their words, a diverse tourist offer, cooperation between all entities, and continuous work on improving content that contributed to the better results of this year's season.

Like any intense tourist season, this one has brought certain challenges. The Bar Tourist Office says that the most important thing, however, is that through continuous cooperation of all relevant institutions and services, efforts have been made to respond in a timely manner to the needs of the large number of guests during the summer months.

"A particular challenge is the fact that tourist traffic increases significantly during the peak season, which additionally burdens traffic and utility infrastructure, parking capacities, public areas, beaches, but also all services that participate in the functioning of the city during the tourist season," they stated.

They also add that this year's experience has shown how important it is to continue working on improving and diversifying the tourist offer and that, although the results achieved are very positive, it is necessary to continuously work on creating new content, manifestations and events that will give guests an additional reason to choose Bar and extend their stay.

In the coming season, special attention should be paid to even better coordination of all institutions and entities involved in the tourist season, they said, concluding that the goal "must be not only to increase the number of guests during July and August, but also to extend the tourist season."

That is precisely why it is necessary to further develop the pre-season and post-season, they assessed, through manifestations, cultural and sporting events, active tourism, gastronomic offerings and the promotion of various segments of our municipality.
