A country that is moving towards the European Union (EU) and which is a de facto member of NATO must ensure undisputed elections and the free expression of the will of citizens, and the environment of a coup d'état and many other irregularities does not allow this, according to the leader of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Ranko Krivokapić .
He and SDP International Secretary Ivan Vujović participated in the Council of the Party of European Socialists (PES), which was held in Prague from December 1 to 4.
As announced by the SDP, Krivokapić, as a member of the Presidency of PES, the second strongest political association in the EU, participated in the session of the Presidency and the leadership meeting of that party, which took place during the session of the Council.
According to reports, Krivokapić spoke with Labor leader Jeremy Corbyn during the leadership meeting, where he emphasized the importance of the influence of British democracy on the region.
He said that he expects further dynamism of inter-party cooperation between the SDP and the British Labor Party.
"Krivokapić, in a conversation with representatives of the Labor Party of Great Britain, exchanged views on the prospects of strengthening democracy in Southeastern Europe, especially in the light of the latest political events on the global political and security front," the statement said.
It is stated that Krivokapić informed the representatives of the British Labor Party, longtime partners of the SDP, about the political processes in Montenegro after the elections that were held on the day of the declared coup d'état, stressing that the election process carried out in this way cannot ensure political stability.
"Krivokapić informed the interlocutors that the country that is moving towards the EU and that is already a member of NATO must provide undisputed elections and an environment in which the free will of the citizens will be expressed, adding that the environment of the coup d'état and many other electoral irregularities certainly does not allow this ", they said from the SDP.
He also pointed out that the opposition has prepared a report on election irregularities, which was presented to the Montenegrin public, and will be forwarded to relevant international and partner addresses.
During the Council, Krivokapić also met with representatives of other partner political parties from the region and EU countries.
