The party headquarters of the opposition parties plan to offer the Socialist People's Party (SNP) in Kotor a political platform on cooperation, in order to form a government in that city as soon as possible, "Vijesti" has learned.
According to the claims of the interlocutor of "Vijesti" from the opposition, the offer could be sent by the end of the week, and in it, apart from political principles, the functions that would belong to the SNP in the new government would be specified. The joint platform should be prepared by the Democratic Front, the URA movement, the Democrats and the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
"In the party headquarters, it was estimated that the talks on the formation of a new government are taking too long and that further prolongation could cause a crisis, possibly calling for new elections. The opposition must not miss the opportunity to change the government in Kotor", said the interlocutor of "Vijesti" from one of the parties that have councilors in that city.
Even yesterday, the opposition parties failed to agree on the formation of a new majority, and at the meeting, which was attended for the first time by representatives of the SDP, different models for the formation of the government were presented. The Democratic Front, the SNP, the Democrats, the URA movement and the SDP in Kotor together have 17 out of a total of 33 councilors, which allows them to replace the DPS that has governed the city until now. Although the councilors of the Democratic Front, the Democrats, the URA movement and the SDP then signed a document in which they undertake not to enter into post-election alliances with the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), the SNP councilors did not want to stand behind that document. The president of the Kotor SNP, Branko Ivanović, then demanded that the SDP officials leave their positions in the municipal bodies before the agreement with the opposition. Ivanovic said that representatives of the SDP cannot participate in negotiations with the opposition, while their representatives simultaneously sit in the municipal government with the DPS.
The session of the local parliament will be held today, and it is expected that the mandates of councilors will be verified. The president of the local parliament will not be elected at the session.
