The Deputy Secretary General of NATO, Rose Gottemeler, expressed her satisfaction with Montenegro's progress on the way to the Alliance, and said that they support the country in this regard.
During her first official visit to Montenegro, she met with the Minister of Defense, Milica Pejanović Đurišić.
"Gotemeler pointed out that the readiness of NATO members to accept Montenegro into the Euro-Atlantic family is reflected in the good dynamics of the ratification process within the parliaments of the allies," the Ministry of Defense announced.
According to reports, Pejanović Đurišić informed Gotemeler about the Ministry's activities foreseen within the process of accession and integration into the North Atlantic Alliance, with an emphasis on the country's contribution to NATO activities and operations.
"Starting from the fact that Montenegro shares common values with the Alliance, the minister emphasized the country's determination to continue the reform process and reach NATO standards," the statement said.
As stated, the interlocutors agree that a stable Western Balkans is a prerequisite for security and stability on the European continent.
In this context, the importance of regional cooperation and the continuation of integration processes was highlighted.
At the meeting, it is added, the implementation of the decisions from the Summit in Warsaw was also discussed, as well as the implementation of the conclusions from the recently held NATO Ministerial Meeting in Brussels.
