The DPS accused the current Rožaj government of borrowing almost 10 million euros in the previous two years.
The party that was in power in Rožaj for more than two decades told "Vijesta" that the new government, Bosniak Party (BS) and SDP, found 2014 euros in debt in July 280.
As of last week, the Municipality did not answer the questions of "Vijesti" about how much debt they found two years ago, and how much it amounts to today.
After the recent split between BS and SDP, the new government has not yet been formed.
Referring to the data of its controller Mevljuda Cikotić, the DPS specified that the municipality currently owes around 9,66 million, based on loans and interest. They warn that there is a threat that in the next seven to eight years, the Municipality will only be able to pay installments for loans and wages to employees from the budget. They claim that 985.000 euros will be needed to repay the loan already next year, which was previously allocated for capital investments.
"Given that the budget of the Municipality of Rožaje for one fiscal year cannot realistically exceed five million euros, it is clear what kind of financial problems the entire city will face. From a financial point of view, this is an alarming state of the local government, especially if we bear in mind that, during the rule of the DPS, one of the most liquid municipalities became one of the most indebted".
They pointed out that DPS, in addition to a 280 euro loan, left about 000 million unrealized for the construction of the primary city water supply system. They claim that the new government borrowed another 1,2 million, without interest.
"Of that debt, about 2,5 million were spent for employee salaries. From the money they received a year ago from the Investment and Development Fund, today they are implementing projects, but the planned infrastructure only reaches the houses where the BS electorate lives."
They suspect that there are also 100 workers who are not registered
The DPS announced that they suspect that the local administration employs more than 100 people "who are not registered anywhere, that is, they are illegally covering jobs.
Those people, as it was announced, receive their salaries "through local communities, BICENT (Bosnian Information Center) and from around 40.000 euros intended for student scholarships, as well as money intended for one-time aid to the vulnerable population."
"All this points to a disastrous reign and serious financial problems. It is unrealistic to expect that in the coming period, without the help of the Government, there will be any serious investments. It will not be possible to service the wages of employees who are already two to four months late. Due to the impossibility of paying off debts, there will be an increasing lack of help for local communities, the socially disadvantaged, sports teams... It will be impossible to develop communal infrastructure from the budget, which will also have a negative impact on the arrival of potential investors", announced the DPS.
