The Prime Minister of Montenegro, Milo Đukanović, on behalf of the Government and in his own name, congratulated the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Theresa May, on her assumption of office and wished her successful work.
"You are taking on this responsible duty at a historic moment for your country, and for Europe, after the democratic decision of the citizens of the UK to leave the EU. In Montenegro, a decade ago, we restored our statehood in a democratic referendum, regained international recognition, and thereby assumed responsibility for I deeply believe that you and your team will succeed in securing a worthy place in Europe and the world for your great nation and your great country, in accordance with the decision of the citizens of the UK," states Đukanović's congratulatory message.
Đukanović, as announced by the Government, states in the congratulatory message that he uses the opportunity to thank the United Kingdom for the continuous support it provides through bilateral and multilateral frameworks not only to Montenegro, but also to the countries of the Western Balkans on the path of democratic, economic and overall development.
"We especially appreciate the contribution you have made to the progress that Montenegro has achieved in European and Euro-Atlantic integration. We hope that in the dynamic agenda of obligations you will take into account the imminent ratification of the Protocol on the accession of Montenegro to NATO, which will be of importance not only for our country , but also a real incentive for other aspirants. Montenegro's near membership in NATO has extremely positive effects on the stability of the entire region, which will also result in the strengthening of stability in the Euro-Atlantic community," concludes Đukanović in his congratulatory message, expressing his satisfaction with the development of traditionally good, friendly relations and cooperation of Montenegro and the United Kingdom on a bilateral level, which are based on mutual respect and mutual interest.
