The Liberal Party of Budva expects the President of the Municipality of Budva, Srđe Popović, to send an official request to the Ministry of Culture to remove the plaque at the entrance to the Old Town in Budva.
"The Ministry of Culture, that is, the Directorate for the Protection of Cultural Heritage, established a commission, which made a decision that the plaque in question has no place, that is, it must be removed because it does not correspond to historical facts and therefore represents an attempt to falsify Budva tradition and Montenegrin historical of heritage", states in the announcement of LP Budva.
They state that when such a factual situation exists, the rest is a matter of procedure.
"We at LP Budva demanded from the former president of the Municipality Lazar Radjenović to address the Ministry of Culture with such a request, but he was explicit with his position, although it is unclear for what reason, that while he is at the head of the Municipality he will not do this. We expect therefore, from Srđa Popović, the current president of the Municipality of Budva, that he will treat this historical falsification and degradation of the old city walls and Budva culture more seriously and professionally, and finally send a request to the Ministry of Culture, which would further take over this case," states the statement signed by the president OOLP Budva Blažo Rađenović.
He adds that Budva has been an interesting city for the prosecution in many ways over the last few years.
"Because the local DPS ignored the laws of Montenegro, not listening to the LP as a coalition partner and not respecting the proposals of the liberals, passing harmful decisions in the Municipal Assembly. Starting with the sale of land, expropriation, concluding harmful contracts with contractors, unrealistic water prices and many others problems, among which is the decision to place this plaque, and in each of those decisions we can clearly recognize a serious deviation from the Constitution, the law, and morality".
Rađenović concludes that the liberals still have the task of forming a government in Budva next year that will deal professionally and indiscriminately with every challenge and every individual, "and in this way this painful epoch above the Great Gate of the Old Town will be ended".
