The active participation of women in all spheres of life and work is the best indicator of the achieved level of development, democracy and understanding of modern times and challenges of the 21st century, Minister of Defense Milica Pejanović-Đurišić said.
As she said, the process of European and Euro-Atlantic integration and partnership enabled the Ministry of Defense and the Army of Montenegro to start applying modern standards in terms of women's participation in the defense system, she said.
"Step by step, as we reach certain goals in our complex and demanding agenda of Euro-Atlantic integration, awareness is slowly changing that the presence of women is necessary, because it truly contributes to the quality of the planned reforms," said Pejanović-Đurišić at the presentation of the OSCE Study. on national action plans for the improvement of Resolution 1325 of the United Nations Security Council.
According to her, there is no doubt that the active participation of women in all spheres of life and work represents the best indicator of the achieved level of development, democracy and understanding of modern times and the challenges of the 21st century.
"Thus, the inclusion of women in sectors that were once exclusively reserved for members of the so-called "stronger sex", such as defense and security, should not only be seen as a consequence of their participation in the demographic structure, but also as evidence of a better understanding and understanding of the influence and the contribution they can have in order to create a more stable and peaceful living environment", said Pejanović-Đurišić.
She recalled the evolution of the position and emancipation of women in Montenegro, in the process that moved women from the traditional family framework to an active participant in important historical processes.
"I am sure that women in Montenegro understand these processes in a responsible and rational way, starting from the fact that they always knew how to choose what we call the "right side of history", resisting retrograde social currents and ideas, and showing their integrity and independence ", said Pejanović-Đurišić.
As she said, she believes that even in the current social moment, marked by the expectation of receiving an invitation for membership in the NATO Alliance, for the majority of women in Montenegro there is no dilemma when it comes to supporting the secure future of their children.
Pejanović Đurišić reminded that 15 years after the adoption of the Resolution in the UN Security Council, it can be said that 1325 has become a recognition code for possibly quite slow, but certainly unstoppable change.
"That's all the more reason that this policy, which is implemented within our Ministry through human resource management processes, ranks high among the priorities of the Ministry of Defense," she said.
Pejanović-Đurišić concluded that younger women are responsible for the new attitude towards the issue of gender equality in Montenegro.
"Although for the modern Montenegrin woman there are many temptations and obstacles to her freedom, emancipation and affirmation in society, she, on the one hand, constantly affirms her role as a pillar of family and social life, and on the other, she opposes numerous attempts to push her out of the mainstream of social life and to challenge its importance, role and influence in society", concluded Pejanović-Đurišić.
