Data from the Employment Office and the Tax Administration deny the President of the Municipality of Rožaje, Ejup Nurković, regarding new employment. Based on them, four times more workers were hired than what the new management claims.
At the press conference last week, Nurković said that the new governing coalition Bosniac Party-Social Democratic Party hired 56 new workers in one year of rule, including 20 officials.
He pointed out that the budget will probably have to be rebalanced for the cost of their salaries and contributions.
On the website of the Employment Agency, the figures say otherwise. This year alone, local administration, public companies and institutions announced 189 tenders.
The largest number was related to the Municipality, which in the first seven months announced competitions for as many as 101 permanent workers, 19 permanent workers and three interns.
According to the Institute's data, in public institutions and companies, 59 open positions were announced for permanent employment and seven for indefinite working hours.
Last year, at least 40 vacancies were announced, most of which were open-ended.
78 workers were registered with the Tax Administration until the first of December last year. According to unofficial information, in the last month of last year and the first seven months of this year, around 150 more employees were registered.
When comparing the data of the Employment Service and the Tax Administration, the number of newly employed workers in local administration and public enterprises and institutions is about 230, which is four times more than what Nurković officially announced.
The capital budget will most likely be spent on their earnings and contributions.
This is best supported by the fact that around 900 euros, which is earmarked from the local coffers for the construction of roads in Balotići and Radetina, will not be used for that purpose.
For these and other investments, the Municipality will borrow two million euros from the citizens, it was decided at the last session of the local parliament.
No one answered the opposition's question about what the capital budget will be spent on.
The consequence of excessive employment is the leasing of about twenty new offices for the needs of municipal services. The new government is hiding from the citizens how much the leased space will cost them. Although the office of the President of the Municipality promised to disclose this information by the end of April, they have not done so to date.
