On the occasion of the Day of Statehood and the Day of the Uprising of the People of Montenegro, wreaths were laid by delegations of the Association of Fighters and Anti-Fascists from Kolašin, the Army of Montenegro and the Municipality of Kolašin.
Emphasizing that Kolašin is the wartime capital of Montenegro, the president of the local Association of Fighters and Antifascists, Gojko Vlahović, said that July 13 is one of the most significant dates in our history.
"The first celebration on July 13 was held in Smajlagića Polje in Kolašin, in the war year of 1944. A week later, Kolašin was heavily bombed. The foundations of Montenegrin statehood were laid in this city, through three sessions of CASNO," Vlahović said.
He said that reconciliation can only happen by respecting historical facts. Vlahović appealed not to allow "the rewriting of history and the marginalization of the national liberation movement".
"Let's give our children a peaceful sleep, let them talk about their plans for the future, and in that future there must be no fascism and those who supported it," said Vlahović.
In front of several dozen residents of Kolašin and guests, KUD "Mijat Mašković" performed a rich cultural and artistic program. The reciter Nikola Šćepanović reminded what had to happen "on the bloody Birch" in order to hear the "step of a new generation".
Uprising Day and Statehood Day in Bijelo Polje were celebrated today with the laying of wreaths by delegations of the municipality, veterans' organizations, parliamentary parties and citizens at the Monument to Fallen Fighters on Freedom Square.
The delegations then laid flowers next to the monument in the city park to national heroes Rifat Burdžović Trš, Tomas Žižić, Aleksa Beć Đilas, Milovan Jelić, as well as at the memorial on the Municipality building to fallen freedom fighters Voj Lješnjak and Muho Dizdarević.
Welcoming the attendees, the President of the Municipal Assembly Džemal Ljušković said that it is a privilege to host such a gathering and talk about famous events.
"Therefore, all of us in Montenegro perceive July 13 as the brightest symbol of our freedom. The two state-making dates of Montenegro, which fate determined on the unique 13th of July, represent in a symbolic sense the crown of the history of the state of Montenegro," Ljušković said.
He pointed out that we owe special gratitude, admiration and respect to the citizens of Bijelo Polje because in difficult times and ugly events in the time behind us, they confirmed their historical dignity by staying true to their tradition, tolerance, tolerance and mutual trust.
"Thus, they remained faithful to the eternal memory of the historical dates that we are reminded of today. "Thus, they took responsibility for the future of modern European Montenegro and made the greatest contribution to the realization of its independence and safe walking on the road to the society of free European nations, the eternal dream of our glorious ancestors," Ljušković said.
The program marking the Day of Statehood and the Day of the Uprising of the People of Montenegro in 1941 in Bar was traditionally opened this morning by giving mail to martyred patriots and anti-fascists in the NOB. The president of SUBNOR and anti-fascist Bar General Špiro Niković, the vice-president of the municipality Dušan Raičević and the scouts of the "24. November".
"It is an honor to pay tribute to those who, with their struggle, paved the way for new generations and made the foundation of our homeland stronger. Only unity and courage achieve great victories. May eternal glory be given to those who gave their lives in the fight against fascists in the liberating 1941," Raičević said.
