The vice-president of the Bosniak Party (BS), Osman Nurković, will not run for party president, while the second vice-president, Suljo Mustafić, is still undecided when it comes to that.
The BS congress is scheduled for July 25, and it is certain that the current leader Rafet Husović will again be a candidate for the party's leadership position.
The director of "Monteput", one of the most influential functionaries in BS, Osman Nurković told "Vijesta" that he does not plan to run for the head of the party: "These are the most common speculations, I have not run for office nor do I plan to do so".
Mustafić neither confirmed nor denied that he will run, but emphasized that there are no currents and divisions in the party. He told "Vijesta" that the top of the party did not discuss possible candidates for the presidency.
"Congress is more than two and a half months away. At this stage, we have completed the first election cycle in local committees and municipal committees have been elected, the presidents of municipal committees have not been elected either. In the second phase, during this month, we will elect presidents of municipal committees, elect delegates for the congress, for the GO. There were no discussions within the party about the candidate for party president. We did not open this topic at all at the Presidency and leadership level," said Mustafić. He added that it is possible that at the level of local committees, of which, as he stated, there are many, there were individual proposals. "Even the members could propose for the president of the OO and the party. There are probably different proposals among those individual proposals. The essence of the story is that there are no currents in BS. The party expressed complete unity," said the vice-president of the Assembly. He added that it is possible that "someone is trying to divert attention from some other topic to something that is not the topic".
Both are satisfied with Husović
Both vice-presidents of the Bosniak Party said that they are satisfied with the way Husović, the vice-president of the Government for regional development, leads that party.
"I think that Rafet Husović leads the party very well and I don't see another candidate who could adequately replace him," Nurković said.
Mustafić also said that Husović led the party well in difficult circumstances. "I think that Husović led the party stably in very difficult circumstances, which is confirmed by the results. The result is that we are the only party with continuous growth since its foundation," said Mustafić.
