The head of the sector for politics, European integration and economy from the Delegation of the European Union (EU) Alberto Kamarata said that it is necessary to make greater efforts in conveying the success stories of the previous impacts on the accession process.
Representatives of the European Movement presented today the results of the "Towards the EU" project, which was implemented in the previous 14 months in cooperation with the European Movement in Serbia, financed from the EU's communication budget in Montenegro.
The President of the European Movement in Montenegro, Momčilo Radulović, said that the project aimed to draw the attention of local communities in central Montenegro to the process of European integration, and it included six Montenegrin cities - Cetinje, Podgorica, Danilovgrad, Nikšić, Mojkovac and Kolašin.
Kamarata, as reported, emphasized the importance of projects of this kind because of the very way of informing about issues of EU accession.
He emphasized that their joint task is to clarify and simplify key messages in informing the citizens of Montenegro.
"The European movement targeted three important social groups - students, farmers and small and medium-sized enterprises, and all of them had the opportunity to learn about the benefits of EU membership in the fields of education, agricultural policy, impact on the economy, and at the same time about the challenges of the EU integration process", Kamarata said.
He pointed out that the Project also showed the importance of presenting clear and understandable information to citizens instead of using technical jargon and complicated vocabulary that only alienates people.
"We must make greater efforts in conveying the successful stories of the previous impacts on the accession process as well as EU assistance in this country," he said.
Kamarata reminded that in the period from 2007 to 2013, Montenegro was able to use more than 235 million EUR through IPA projects and will use more than 270 million EUR in the period from 2014 to 2020 through IPA II.
According to Kamarata, with EU money, many successful projects, with a positive impact on the quality of life, have been implemented so far. "Let's take, for example, the reconstruction of two railway sections, Bar-Vrbnici and Trebaljevo-Kolašin, worth ten million euros".
Radulović explained that the target groups of the project were graduates and students, the agricultural community and entrepreneurs.
"Through a series of educational seminars and info-sessions, with the help of local experts and experts from Croatia and Serbia, they learned about the opportunities and challenges that the process of European integration brings, as well as how best to adapt to EU policies," said Radulović.
As he said, two Youth Camps were organized in Cetinje, where 60 Montenegrin students and graduates got to know in an interactive way how Montenegro negotiates with the EU through the simulation of bilateral screening, youth policies in the EU and the opportunities offered to them in such a community.
Through three one-day info-sessions, entrepreneurs had the opportunity to learn about the systems of measures to encourage entrepreneurship before and after joining the EU, how to best adapt their business and be competitive on the single European market.
"Also, through three educational seminars, the farmers became familiar with the common agricultural policy, the IPARD-like grant program, Croatia's experience in the process of negotiations in the field of agriculture and challenges, opportunities, but also the most common misconceptions that arise as a result of insufficient information about the EU integration process." , said Radulović.
Radulović spoke about the importance of the project, especially in the part that representatives of the EU Delegation directly participated in the implementation of project activities on the ground.
The results of the project, among others, are the informative brochure "What Europe Brings Us", as well as flyers that will serve as a manual with relevant information for the target groups.
